Montclair Bikery is very proud to offer Merckx bicycles.  Named after former Belgian professional cyclist, Eddy Merckx, his bikes will follow his legend which is now known as him being the most successful cyclist of all time establishing several world cycling records, some of which remain unbroken to this day. Regarded as the greatest, Merckx was nicknamed, ‘the Cannibal’ because he wanted to win every race he participated in, never "arranging" a race with another competitor. THE GREATEST CYCLIST OF ALL TIME?For us to explain the high quality of this bike you should know that Eddy Merckx is considered by most cycling historians to be the greatest cyclist of all time and an icon of the sport equal to the likes of Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan or Pele. This man they called “The Cannibal,” due to his insatiable appetite to win and was so dominant in his 13 years as a professional he has a winning rate of 35.5%. You got it… Merckx entered 1582 road races and won 525.  Eddy Merckx is a five-time champion of the two most important races in professional cycling--the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia; is one of only four cyclists to have won all three of the Grand Tours (Tour, Giro and Vuelta a Espana); and is one of only two men to have won the Triple Crown of Cycling (Tour, Giro, and the World Cycling Championship) all in the same year.  He knows his bicycles and Montclair Bikery has them.

Merckx decided he was going to build frames the way he wanted them to ride, and with a level of quality that would stand the test of time. This is what we now have in stock at Montclair Bikery. Every model that he produces he ensures it lives up to his standards.

Merckx frames are built with century geometry and are typically comfortable to ride all day long. For each given frame size (seat tube), the corresponding top tubes tend to be on the long side. There are different geometries for each Merckx frame model. Each frame has a touch of class that few builders can live up to.
